Arshak Petrosyan is a Professor of Mathematics and Associate Department Head at Purdue University, working in analysis, partial differential equations, and free boundary problems. He earned his PhD at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm in 2000 under Henrik Shahgholian and a Diploma from Yerevan State University in 1997 under Norayr Arakelian, then held an R. H. Bing instructorship at UT Austin (mentored by Luis Caffarelli) before joining Purdue in 2003. He is co-author of the AMS graduate text 'Regularity of free boundaries in obstacle-type problems' (2012) and the AMS Memoir on the parabolic Signorini problem (2017), and has written extensively on the thin obstacle problem and nonlocal/fractional operators. As a high-school student he represented the Commonwealth of Independent States at the 33rd IMO (Moscow, 1992), earning an Honourable Mention.
