Fernando Daniel Domínguez Castaneda

Fernando Daniel Domínguez Castaneda is a Salvadoran olympiad mathematician and the most decorated IMO contestant in El Salvador's history. He represented El Salvador at the International Mathematical Olympiad three consecutive years: bronze in 2020 (18 pts), honourable mention in 2021 (11 pts), and silver in 2022 (30 pts, 84th of 589). In May 2022 he won gold at the XXXIV Asian-Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO) - the first Salvadoran and the only Latin American gold that year - and repeated with a second APMO gold in 2023. Raised in the Programa Jóvenes Talento at the Universidad de El Salvador, which he joined in 2018 while a student at the Liceo Salvadoreño, he was named Notable Estudiante de El Salvador by the Legislative Assembly in April 2023. As of 2024 he was studying mathematics at MIT and served as deputy leader of El Salvador's IMO 2023 team.
