Guido Jorge Castro Odio
Guido Jorge Castro Odio, also rendered Jorge Guido Castro Odio, is a Cuban-born mathematician and software engineer. As a schoolboy he represented Cuba at the 1990 International Mathematical Olympiad in Beijing, scoring 11 points for an honourable mention. He studied mathematics at the University of Salamanca in Spain on a Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) scholarship for the 1998/99 course, earned a doctorate in mathematics, and served as a part-time associate professor (6 hours a week) in the Faculty of Sciences, in the area of Computer Languages and Systems (2007-2008). In 2005 he co-founded the Salamanca IT company Global PC Desarrolladores Informáticos, where he is managing director; the firm develops web portals and built the University of Salamanca library service website. Spanish press identify him as a grandson of Fidel Castro.
