Harry Reimann

Harry Reimann is an East German-born mathematician and a 1975 International Mathematical Olympiad silver medalist (top GDR scorer, 34 points). He studied mathematics, earned a doctorate and habilitation (Humboldt University Berlin), held a Privatdozent position at Bielefeld, and worked at the Karl-Weierstrass-Institut fuer Mathematik of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR in Berlin. His research spans analysis and number theory: quasiconformal mappings on the Heisenberg group (with A. Koranyi, 1985), local group schemes, and the arithmetic of quaternionic Shimura varieties.
