Adam Henryk Toruńczyk

Adam Henryk Toruńczyk (b. 21 October 1945, Warsaw) is a Polish mathematician specialising in topology. He won a bronze medal for Poland at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1963 as a pupil of VI Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Tadeusza Reytana in Warsaw. He studied mathematics at the University of Warsaw and defended his doctoral thesis on K-skeletons and absorbing sets in complete metric spaces, supervised by Czesław Bessaga, at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IM PAN). He is a professor ordinarius at the Institute of Mathematics of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw (MIMUW), and also works at IM PAN.
