Ioan Manolescu (b. 4 Feb 1984, Romania) is a professor of mathematics at the University of Fribourg working in probability and statistical mechanics. He studied at the Ecole Normale Superieure Paris, did a Master's in probability at Pierre et Marie Curie University, and completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge (2012) under Geoffrey Grimmett. He was a postdoc at the University of Geneva (2012-2015) with S. Smirnov and H. Duminil-Copin, then associate professor at Fribourg (2015-2018) and full professor (PO) since 2018. He represented Romania at the IMO in 2003 (bronze medal).
