Kateryna Yuriivna Matviiv is a Ukrainian mathematician. As an 11th-grade student from Lutsk she represented Ukraine at the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2013, Santa Marta, Colombia), earning an Honourable Mention with 14 points. She then studied at the Institute for Applied System Analysis (IASA) of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, where she won repeated university mathematics olympiads and took Third Prize at the International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC 2016, Blagoevgrad) and 2nd place at the 2017 edition. Her research spans computer vision (Haar-cascade face detection) and non-contact video-based stress detection; she is credited on publications in Naukovi Visti NTUU KPI and JAMRIS, and holds ORCID 0000-0002-2499-4332.

Represented Ukraine at IMO 2013 (Honourable Mention). Studied at IASA, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. IMC 2016 Third Prize. Co-author of work on Haar-cascade face detectors and video-based remote photoplethysmography for stress detection.

Notes
  • Represented Ukraine at the 54th IMO (2013, Santa Marta, Colombia) as an 11th-grader, scoring 14/42 (A5 B0 C0 D7 E2 F0) for an Honourable Mention, rank 279 overall.Jul 2013
  • Took Third Prize at IMC 2016 (International Mathematics Competition for University Students, Blagoevgrad), representing KPI alone since the university did not enter a team - an unusual result in a historically male-dominated KPI IMC contingent.Aug 2016
  • Co-authored 'Haar Cascade Face Detector Quality Dependence on Training Dataset Variability' (Naukovi Visti NTUU KPI, no.6, 2017) with Sergii Nikolaiev and Yurii Tymoshenko; ORCID 0000-0002-2499-4332.Dec 28, 2017
  • Improved to 2nd place at the 2017 international university maths competition in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria), among ~235 students - a clear upward trajectory across three IMC appearances.Aug 29, 2017
  • Listed on ResearchGate as 'Kateryna Yu. Matviiv' affiliated with the Institute of Accelerating Systems and Applications, with work on non-contact video-based remote photoplethysmography for stress detection - suggesting her research moved toward biomedical signal processing.2019
  • Came to Kyiv Polytechnic from Lutsk; parents and a school teacher encouraged her early interest in mathematics, and she competed in school olympiads throughout.Dec 2016
