Merdan Artykov is a Turkmen mathematician. He competed for Turkmenistan at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2006, 2007 and 2008, earning an Honourable Mention in 2007 and a Bronze medal in 2008, and went on to a doctorate in probability theory at TU Dortmund (2019) on limit theorems for random walks on noncompact Grassmann manifolds. He has since moved into advisory work as a Senior Consultant at BDO Germany.

- Completed a Dr. rer. nat. in Mathematics at TU Dortmund in 2019; dissertation 'Limit theorems for random walks on non-compact Grassmann manifolds with growing dimensions' (submitted June 2019).Jun 2019
- Represented Turkmenistan at the IMO in 2006, 2007 and 2008, taking an Honourable Mention in 2007 (12 pts) and a Bronze medal in 2008 (17 pts, rank 199) - the strongest Turkmen contestant of his cohort, which launched the pure-mathematics trajectory the rest of his record confirms.Jul 2008
- Now a Senior Consultant at BDO Germany, previously Senior Consultant at EY ifb - a move from academic probability research into quantitative advisory/consulting.2026
- Authored, with Michael Voit, 'Some central limit theorems for random walks associated with hypergeometric functions of type BC' (arXiv:1802.05147, v2 2019), his principal journal paper on limit theory for random walks on noncompact Grassmann manifolds.Jul 9, 2019
- Co-authored 'A note on fractional parabolic differential and difference equations' (AIP Conf. Proc. 1611, 2014) with Allaberen Ashyralyev and Zafer Cakir, affiliated then with ITTU Ashgabat - evidence he was publishing mathematics from Turkmenistan before the Dortmund doctorate.2014
- Studied Mathematics at The University of Bonn before the TU Dortmund doctorate, per LinkedIn education history (Bonn then Dortmund).
