Peter Calvert represented the United Kingdom at the International Olympiad in Informatics in 2007, earning a bronze medal (208/600, 128th). He competed for the UK at IOI in 2005, 2006 and 2007. He went on to study Computer Science at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, where his final-year project on offloading Java to graphics processors won first place (undergraduate category) in the ACM Student Research Competition and the BCS award for the best project in 2010. He continued into research with supervisor Alan Mycroft on mapping the Join Calculus and Petri nets to heterogeneous hardware, publishing at PLACES 2012 and in Springer.

Peter Calvert is a British computer scientist and former competitive programmer. He represented the United Kingdom at the IOI in 2005, 2006 and 2007, winning bronze in 2007. He read Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, winning the ACM Student Research Competition (undergraduate) for a project parallelising Java for GPUs, and later researched compilation for heterogeneous hardware with Alan Mycroft.
