Stanislav Chobanov

Data Science Team Lead at EGT Digital; IMO 2014 Bulgaria team member; co-author of 555 Geometry Problems
EGT Digital · Sofia, Bulgaria · engineer

I value data-driven, research-based, and innovative approaches to solving problems. My skills in Machine Learning, Bayesian Statistics, Causal Inference, and NLP have proved useful to the organizations I have been a part of. I graduated with summa cum laude from the most selective and innovative American university - Minerva Schools. By living in six different countries on four continents, I gained invaluable experiences and perspectives, which I aspire to bring to the world. I am highly skilled in applied mathematics, statistics, and programming. Topics I have explored through projects include Monte Carlo samplers, automatic variational inference, vehicle trajectory optimization, text topic modeling, network modeling, synthetic control, and linear feedback shift registers. My strong theoretical foundation has allowed me to enrich my understanding by implementing sophisticated algorithms from scratch. I am also working to bring effective instructional methods to learners around the w

Notes
  • Member of the Bulgarian team at the 55th IMO in 2014; scored 15 points (47.23%), earning an Honourable Mention - the identity anchor tying the profile together.
  • Now Data Science Team Lead at EGT Digital in Sofia, risen from Data Scientist (2022) to team lead (2023) - an IMO-medallist mathematician turned applied-ML lead.
  • Graduated summa cum laude from Minerva Schools at KGI in Computational Science (2015-2019) after one year of Applied Mathematics at Sofia University, having left the elite Varna math high school in 2014 - a deliberate pivot from pure olympiad math into interdisciplinary computational science.
  • Worked as an IMO trainer for the Uganda Mathematics Society, coaching the Ugandan national team alongside classmate Ivan Ezeigbo - olympiad background turned into capacity-building abroad.May 24, 2016
  • Co-authored the olympiad geometry textbook '555 Geometry Problems' (with Stanislav Dimitrov and Lyuben Lichev, Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians) - a durable math-community contribution predating his industry career.
  • Before EGT Digital he was a Data Scientist at Telepathy Labs (2019-2021), so his ML career spans at least two companies since graduating.
  • Won a silver medal in the Mars Solar Sail optimization competition as part of the Minerva Schools team (Hoang Nguyen, Long Le; faculty sponsor Tony Drummond) - early applied-research/teamwork signal.
  • Translated the Bulgarian-language chapters of the Exploding Dots curriculum (gdaymath.com) - sustained outreach into Bulgarian math education.
  • Listed in the Global Math Project community as 'Stanislav Chobanov, Bulgaria' who participated at IMO 2014 - another public tie to the math-education community.
  • GitHub account stani95 holds only two repositories (Minerva coursework in Jupyter Notebooks), suggesting a light public code footprint despite a data-science role.
  • Facebook profile (chobanov.stan) lists Sofia, Bulgaria and studies at Minerva University and Sofia University - cross-platform identity confirmation.
  • A second, thin LinkedIn stub ('stanislav-chobanov-677486100', Student at Minerva Schools at KGI, 25 connections) is likely an abandoned early profile rather than a different person.
