Thomas Takacs is an Austrian mathematician and Group Leader / Senior Research Scientist at the Johann Radon Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics (RICAM) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Linz, where he leads the 'Geometry in Simulations' group. His research centres on isogeometric analysis (IGA): multi-patch discretizations, unstructured and manifold spline spaces, C1-smoothness, adaptivity in high-order FEM, thin-shell constructions, and robust isogeometric solvers. He studied Technical Mathematics (2005-2009), Industrial Mathematics (MSc 2010) and completed a doctorate in Technical Sciences (2013) at Johannes Kepler University Linz, followed by a postdoc at the University of Pavia (2014-2016); he habilitated in Mathematics at JKU in 2021. As a schoolboy he twice represented Austria at the International Mathematical Olympiad, winning bronze in 2005.
