Vladimir Brankov

Vladimir Brankov represented Yugoslavia at the 1996 International Mathematical Olympiad in Mumbai, winning a bronze medal (rank 102, 19 points) as a member of the six-person Yugoslav team. A student at Gimnazija "Svetozar Marković" in Niš, he was the school's first pupil to represent the country at international olympiads in both mathematics and informatics, collecting eight olympiad medals between 1994 and 1996. He went on to study mathematics and publish research in spectral graph theory with Dragan Stevanović and Ivan Gutman. As of 2013 he lived and worked in Long Island City, New York, as a programmer.
