Represented Taiwan at IOI 2004 in Athens, winning a bronze medal with 275/600 (rank 134/291). One of four Taiwanese contestants that year, alongside Chun-Ta Lin (bronze), Hsu-Chieh Lee (silver) and Tien-Ren Chen (silver). Team leaders were Greg Lee and Pang-Feng Liu.

Yi Chen is a Taiwanese competitive programmer who represented Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) at the 16th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2004), held in Athens, Greece, 11-18 September 2004. Competing as a first-time IOI contestant on Taiwan's four-member team alongside Chun-Ta Lin, Hsu-Chieh Lee and Tien-Ren Chen, Chen scored 275/600 across six tasks (Artemis 0, Hermes 40, Polygon 50, Empodia 65, Phidias 70, Farmer 50), ranking 134th of 291 contestants and earning a bronze medal. IOI 2004 was the only IOI in which he competed.

  • Chen's later career cannot be confirmed: a namesake 'Yi Chen' at Vanderbilt University (physics professor, MIT/Caltech degrees) lists an IOI 2004 entry but is not verifiably the Taiwan contestant, so no post-IOI identity is attached.Sep 2004
