> Your voice was the first that I wanted to learn to sound like as a kid. My dad and I voted for you every week on Idol. You’re my go to karaoke, pretty much any song lol Did you always know what you’d end up doing in life? Or did you see an amazing opportunity and take a chance?

> my goal, as a singer, was actually to be a background singer because I wanted to work with a bunch of artists and in different genres. Usually artists aren't allowed the creative freedom to really explore several genres. obviously that dream changed a bit after trying out for Idol and my big goal for my entire career was to sing popular music no matter what genre that meant. I have been VERY lucky that my fans have allowed me the freedom to be creative in other genres and they have always come along on the ride with me. that is the thing I'm most thankful for in my career. I don't do well with Groundhog Day music. I have to change it. I get bored easily. thank you so much for being a fan and supporting me for so long!

> What's your most unexpected taste in music?

> I love trippy music like Portishead, and speaking of bands with "head" in it haha I have always loved Radiohead. I actually grew up listening to a lot of alternative music. The Texas band, Toadies, is probably my favorite band of all time. Those concerts were the best! Crowd surfing, sweaty, and singing/screaming at the top of my lungs was my jam :) .....now my jam is reading books by fires with wine and a charcuterie board hahahaha

> Hey Kelly! I’m a big fan of you on The Voice. What is a favorite story from the show that didn’t get aired? It could be an interaction with another coach, a contestant or a fan. Thank you for doing this!

> oh it aired but not all of it. this season we started singing an impromptu happy birthday for an artist in the blinds (CamWess) and literally all of production and everything had to come to a halt because I couldn't stop laughing because NO ONE (I repeat, not one soul in the building at that time) remembered his name and when it came to saying his name in the song the sound of "rmffuhno" (it was a collective "oh crap no one remembered his name) I mean, I couldn't handle it, I was laughing so hard I was crying and my make up had to be fixed. it was the funniest thing I have ever experienced in life, not just on the voice. I was so mortified for CamWess. ugh. we can never right that wrong hahaha
