- How they joined: With Windsurf (https://www.autumn.ai/resources/cognition/acquisitions/windsurf)

## Identity
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207
- Domain: windsurf.com

## Notes
- Joined Windsurf in March 2025, about four months before Cognition signed its definitive agreement to acquire Windsurf (2025-07-14). That timing means the move to Cognition came through the acquisition, not a direct Cognition hire. (https://cognition.com/blog/windsurf)
- LinkedIn lists a single role, Associate at Windsurf, starting March 2025; no earlier employer, internship, desk, lab or team is listed. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- On 2026-06-02 Cognition renamed Windsurf to Devin Desktop as part of folding its products under the Devin brand. The product Kruthesh's employer built now ships under the Devin name, but their LinkedIn still lists 'Windsurf'. (https://www.promptquorum.com/power-local-llm/windsurf-review)
- The deal came days after Google hired Windsurf CEO Varun Mohan, co-founder Douglas Chen and research leaders in a $2.4B reverse-acquihire that left much of the 250-person team behind. Kruthesh was part of the team Cognition took on. (https://techcrunch.com/2025/07/14/cognition-maker-of-the-ai-coding-agent-devin-acquires-windsurf/)
- Public headline says "Student at Vel Tech HighTech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College". (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- Windsurf began in 2021 as Exafunction (Varun Mohan, Douglas Chen), became Codeium in 2022, was renamed Windsurf in late 2024 and had raised about $243M by February 2025. Kruthesh joined in March 2025, right after that funding peak and just before the Google/Cognition split. (https://www.promptquorum.com/power-local-llm/windsurf-review)
- Holds a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Vel Tech HighTech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College, Chennai (2019-2023). This is a non-CS background for someone at an AI coding company. The profile does not confirm that. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- Education history includes Bachelor of Engineering - BE, Mechanical Engineering, Vel Tech HighTech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- The LinkedIn headline is still 'Student at Vel Tech HighTech Dr.Rangarajan Dr.Sakunthala Engineering College', and the current employer still reads Windsurf, not Cognition. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- Location is Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
- Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kruthesh-rabi-1bbbb7207)
