> I expected the point of this video to be, "We *do* have electric kettles! A coffee maker is just an electric kettle that automatically pours the heated water over coffee grounds!" But I guess you can't really say that because the heating mechanism is so different. Interesting!

> I had originally planned to talk about how sometimes people will use them to make hot water, but I took it out for two reasons:
>
> 1. You can't get rid of the coffee taste. It'll always vaguely be there, so if you were going to just run water through it to make tea, you'll be very disappointed.
> 2. They don't produce water anywhere near boiling by the time it lands in the carafe.
>
> In the end, the only thing I wanted was to help the puzzled people understand coffee appliances are by no means a new thing over here. Nobody alive on Earth predates the percolator!

> I'm assuming a lot of those props might be hints about future videos. Might be a reflection of how many ideas he has for possible videos? I do however agree it does look very busy back there, and the amount of stuff really detracts from what's actually there.

> In a way I was sort of trying to mimic the Wall of Magic from Mental Floss videos. Though rather than just go with a random assortment of stuff (which I'll grant you there's some truly random stuff peppered in, like Marty the Squirrel, Evan the Snake, and Booty the Clown (two of the three just got names right this second)), I wanted most if not all of the items to fit in with the channel subject.

> Almost every single Technology Connections video is about something seemingly completely random that I've thought about or wondered about at some point in my life. It just fills that niche perfectly. Every time.

> I'm pretty sure I'm just the weird kid many of us were who decided to make videos about the things my weird brain catalogued as interesting.
