> If a new movie ever happens, would you prefer to go the route of JK Rowling on Harry Potter, being protective but letting others write, or JK route on Fantastic Beasts, writing the script yourself? Also, is there any specific director you'd love to direct it?

> If a new movie ever happens, I'd like to be involved as possible. At this point, I understand the story way better than anyone else will who comes in from the outside.
>
> Funny thing is, when Fox was starting production, they asked me if I had any recommendations for directors. I gave them a list of four/five directors, which included Alfonso Cuaron (before he had done Harry Potter), Del Toro, and an up-and-coming director who had only done a few indie movies at that point. Movies like . . . Insomnia and Memento. At which point the executives told me, "Oh no, we can do better than that." Lol.

> Hi, Chris! Was it ever on the table that Shruikan would turn on Galbatorix? We spent a long time learning that he wasn't really to blame for all the bad stuff that happened, and that he himself was a victim, being controlled and all. This led me to believe that >!he'd end up…

> As for alternate endings, yes. There were a few things I considered but didn't execute. Such as killing Murtagh and Thorn. Having Arya leave with Eragon at the end. Not killing Islanzadí. Having Roran become king. You know, small things like that.

### u/ChristopherPaolini in r/Eragon, May 31, 2026 · Own mistake

Replying to the post "This scene in book 2 doesn’t work (chemistry-wise), I’ll prove it to you".

> So, I got too clever here. I'd been listening to a history of science course from the Great Courses company (thus Orrin's interest in natural philosophy), and that inspired this bit. Originally I wrote the scene with sodium, but then I got worried that some kid might try imitating Orrin, so I changed it to phosphorus.
>
> In retrospect, I was being overly concerned. Would use sodium if I were doing it again. (Might have even fixed it in reprints. Can't remember.)

> An Erothknurl, a Thardzvergundnzmal.

> Ha! I actually worked up that last word "Thardzvergûndnzmal" just to give Gerard Doyle -- who read the audio book -- a challenge. He managed it beautifully.
