Replying to a redditor:

> What was the original spark for Juliette as a character? Before she became the Juliette we know, who did you first imagine her to be, and what made you realize she was going to become the person at the center of this story?

> I think I was inspired by Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor from Terminator, and Lindsey from The Abyss.
>
> Holy shit. It's James Cameron. He's the one.

Replying to the post "Question about something Marnes mentioned in the book and connection to the show".

> In the pilot, there was a rabbit loose in a garden that Holston and Marnes rounded up. Holston tells Allison about it, and you see it all on-screen. There was a very elaborate hydroponic garden full of carrots built for the shoot. Lots of days spent on this, and it didn't make the final cut.
>
> So the story from the book was originally going to be told, but there wasn't enough space in the pilot. "Kill your darlings," as they say.

In the thread "Hugh Howey Cameo Meme Contest - Template Inside".

> True story: I didn't have sleeves on the first take. After one shot, the director yells "cut," and they sent a shirt out, said it was "too much" with me and Shane both sleeveless out there. Shane turned to me while I was getting redressed and said, "Hey, it's in my contract. Only one set of guns out." :D
