Replying to the post "Target's Pebble Time clearance- What does it mean?".

> Happy to share the answer. An error was made as Target set up for a new Pebble point of purchase (POP) display that will be launching in Target stores in October. One hundred Target stores received incorrect instructions to reprice some Pebble Time inventory. Sorry to the deal hunters, the mistake has been corrected :)

> Target is and will continue carrying Pebble Time and is launching Pebble Time Steel shortly, it's selling very well there and we planning for a great holiday season in retail. I'm personally excited to see our new POP display roll out in Best Buy and Target in October...

### u/erOhead in r/pebble, Apr 11, 2022 · The why

Replying to a redditor:

> Pebble Time did not succeed because in a quest for huge growth we attempted to expand beyond our initial geeky/hacker user base and failed to reposition it In 2015, we also doubled our operating expenses in anticipation of future growth. Looking back with hindsight, I should not…

> Notice it had nothing to do with VCs. Our VC was absolutely not the problem here. And again maybe I didn't make it perfectly clear but I would not have changed anything. At the time it was very logical to make the call that smartwatches were going to explode and that we had a chance to grow with the market.
