Rade Špegar
Rade Špegar is a Serbian-born mathematician and algorithmic trader. A Serbian national mathematical olympiad contestant, he represented Serbia at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2010, 2011 and 2012, winning bronze medals in 2010 and 2011 and an honourable mention in 2012. He attended the Mathematical High School (Matematicka gimnazija) in Belgrade and then Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (2012-2016). His professional and internship record, as reflected in LinkedIn-derived index data, spans quantitative finance: a Quantitative Trading Internship at Tower Research Capital (2015), hedge-fund summer analyst roles at IKOS CIF Limited (2013) and Silver Lake Capital Management LLC (2014), and research assistantships at Stanford (Hoover Institution CREDO and the Graduate School of Business). He has worked at Jump Trading LLC as an Algorithmic Trader; his registration as a broker with Jump Trading LLC since April 2018 is confirmed by FINRA BrokerCheck. The LinkedIn index lists his Jump Trading start as 2016, while the FINRA registration corroborates only 2018 onward.
- Quant employment verification: CONFIRMED. FINRA BrokerCheck (primary regulatory record) lists Rade Spegar, CRD# 6696224, registered as a broker with JUMP TRADING, LLC (CRD# 106124, 600 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago IL) continuously since 4/27/2018, with an active SRO registration across numerous US equity options exchanges - an actual, current, regulated trading role. Jump Trading LLC is a proprietary high-frequency/algorithmic trading firm, so the role is squarely quantitative trading. Identity is supported by the matching name and by corroborating profile data (Stanford BS Mathematics 2012-2016; the same person is the Serbian IMO contestant Rade Spegar 2010-2012). Past roles per the LinkedIn enrichment index include Quantitative Trading Intern at Tower Research Capital (2015; HFT/quant prop firm), Hedge Fund Summer Analyst at IKOS CIF Limited (2013; systematic hedge fund, Cyprus) and Hedge Fund Summer Analyst at Silver Lake Capital Management LLC (2014) - all quantitative-finance employers. Note: the past roles are index-derived (LinkedIn enrichment/aggregator), not yet independently confirmed per-employer; the CURRENT Jump Trading role IS independently confirmed by FINRA.Sep 17, 2026
- Current role per LinkedIn enrichment index is Algorithmic Trader at Jump Trading LLC, Chicago, dated 2016-present (about 10 years); this is index-only and is independently corroborated only for the period since 2018 by the FINRA registration, so the 2016 start date is index-only.Sep 17, 2026
- IMO record confirms the olympiad identity: Rade Spegar represented Serbia at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2010 (Bronze, 16 pts), 2011 (Bronze, 18 pts) and 2012 (Honourable Mention, 12 pts); three separate IMO participations match the brief exactly.Jul 16, 2012
- Employer classification: Jump Trading LLC is a proprietary trading firm focused on algorithmic and high-frequency trading (Wikipedia), and Tower Research Capital is an American quantitative/high-frequency trading firm (Wikipedia), so both roles are genuine quantitative-finance trading positions; IKOS CIF Limited is a Cyprus-based systematic multi-strategy asset manager (regulated by CySEC) trading index, bond and commodity futures, qualifying as a quant employer.Sep 17, 2026
- Caution on employer classification: 'Silver Lake Capital Management LLC' resolves in public records to a private-equity/real-estate asset manager, not a classic quant hedge fund, so the 2014 'Hedge Fund Summer Analyst' title there is index-sourced and the quant-finance character of that specific entity is unverified; treat it as unconfirmed.Sep 17, 2026
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Stanford University, 2012-2016, following Mathematical High School (Matematicka gimnazija) Belgrade 2008-2012 - a trajectory consistent with a Serbian olympiad contestant who moved to Stanford after secondary school.Sep 17, 2026
- FINRA BrokerCheck detailed report shows the individual has passed 1 Principal/Supervisory Exam and 3 General Industry/Product Exams and holds 21 SRO registrations, consistent with an active trading-desk role at a proprietary trading firm rather than a peripheral association.Sep 17, 2026
- Serbian press interview (RTS) with 'Rade Špegar, mathematical olympiad contestant, the only Serb in recent years to enrol at the prestigious American university Stanford', corroborates the identity link between the Serbian olympiad competitor and the Stanford student; he is quoted on applying knowledge quickly.Jan 1, 2018
- In a Sabac local-press interview he describes the mathematics knowledge gained at Mathematical Gymnasium as a major advantage over Stanford classmates and says he spent part of each university break in a competitive internship obtainable mainly to students of such a university, and expresses doubt about pursuing finance work in Serbia due to the political system - i.e. the internships were recurring summer placements, not a single role.Jan 1, 2018
- Serbian press covered a local student from Sabac winning recognition on the international olympiad stage and later studying at Stanford; corroborates the Serbian origin of the individual profiled here.Jan 1, 2018
