Asanka Herath

Asanka Herath is a Sri Lankan software engineer at Google, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He represented Sri Lanka at the International Olympiad in Informatics four straight years (1995-1998), winning silver in 1995 and 1998 and bronze in 1996. He studied Mathematics with Computer Science at MIT (SB), where as a student developer he maintained the OpenAFS for Windows port, and later worked at Secure-Endpoints Inc. before joining Google around 2010, where he worked on Google Chrome and now works on product inclusion & equity and anti-abuse/security, co-authoring the 2024 Web Conference paper 'Assessing Web Fingerprinting Risk'.
