Binwei Yan

Binwei Yan is a Chinese mathematician and computer scientist who represented the People's Republic of China at the 61st International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2020), earning a silver medal and the Mariam Mirzakhani Award as the highest-scoring female contestant from Asia. She studied computer science at Tsinghua University (2020-2021), then transferred to MIT, where she completed a Bachelor's and Master's in Mathematics and Computer Science and won the 2022 Elizabeth Lowell Putnam Prize as the top-scoring woman in the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition. Her MIT research applied machine learning to biology (antibody interaction prediction with Prof. Bonnie Berger; cell-cell communication from scRNA data with Prof. Manolis Kellis). She is now a Quantitative Researcher at Citadel Securities.
