Florian Meier is the Liechtenstein contestant who represented his country at the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2007, 2008 and 2009, winning bronze in 2007 and 2009 and an honourable mention in 2008. He later pursued theoretical computer science at ETH Zurich, becoming a PhD student in Angelika Steger's Combinatorial Structures and Algorithms group, researching the theory of learning in artificial and bio-plausible neural networks.

Fourth-year PhD student in Angelika Steger's group at ETH Zurich's Institute of Theoretical Computer Science, working at the intersection of computational neuroscience, artificial neural networks and mathematical analysis of stochastic processes. Core interest is the theory of learning in artificial and bio-plausible neural networks, including associative memories, sequence learning, recurrent neural networks, random processes and evolutionary algorithms.
