GPGaram Park
Garam Park, who moved from Korea to Botswana around 2012, emerged as one of Botswana's strongest mathematics students of her generation. As a Form 4 pupil at Maru-a-Pula School she finished first of 102 candidates in national selection for Botswana's debut International Mathematical Olympiad team in 2015. She went on to represent Botswana at the IMO in 2016 (Hong Kong), 2017 (Rio de Janeiro) and 2018 (Romania), earning Honourable Mentions in 2016 and 2017. At IMO 2017 she received the inaugural Girls' Olympic IMPA Award for Africa, later renamed the Maryam Mirzakhani Award. She also represented Botswana at the 2017 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad and was named the best senior learner from outside South Africa at the South African Mathematics Olympiad awards.
- Won the inaugural (2017) IMO Girls' Olympic IMPA Award representing Africa, the special prize for outstanding performances by girls later renamed the Maryam Mirzakhani Award - a first-edition honour shared with contestants from Korea, Bulgaria, Canada and Colombia.Jul 2017
- At IMO 2016 (Hong Kong) she scored 7 points (all on Problem 1) for an Honourable Mention, and contested again at IMO 2017 (Rio de Janeiro) scoring 11 points, also an Honourable Mention - a two-year HM run for a country whose team collectively scored single digits.Jul 2017
