Hossein Abbaspour is an Iranian mathematician working in algebraic topology, homotopy theory and string topology. As a school student he represented the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 33rd International Mathematical Olympiad (Moscow, 1992), scoring 11 points for an Honourable Mention. He earned a B.Sc. in Pure Mathematics from Sharif University of Technology (1996), an M.Sc. (1999) and a Ph.D. (2003) from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York under Dennis Sullivan. After postdocs at École Polytechnique (2003-05), Université de Lille 1 (2005-06) and a term at the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in Bonn (2006-07), he became a Maître de Conférences at the Université de Nantes in 2007, where he works in the Laboratoire Jean Leray. His research spans string topology of manifolds, Hochschild homology, Frobenius algebras and higher holonomy.

Notes
  • Ph.D. 2003 at CUNY Graduate Center under Dennis Sullivan (Fields Medalist), then a rapid international postdoc circuit (Ecole Polytechnique 2003-05, Lille 1 2005-06, MPI Bonn 2006-07) before a permanent Nantes post in 2007 - a string-topology lineage running straight through Sullivan.Oct 2003
  • The olympiad contestant and the Nantes algebraist are the same person: the IranMathGrads list places 'Hossein Abbaspour (CUNY, Dennis Sullivan); Ecole Polytechnique; U. Lille; MPI-Bonn; U. Nantes' among Iranian math graduates, matching the Nantes about-me timeline exactly.
  • Represented Iran at IMO 1992 in Moscow, scoring 11 points (2,1,0,7,0,1) for an Honourable Mention; teammate Abbas Colmakani took bronze, pointing to a strong Iranian olympiad cohort that year.Jul 1992
  • Publications run 2004-2021 across Topology, Algebraic & Geometric Topology, Journal of Noncommutative Geometry and Mathematische Zeitschrift, with frequent co-authors M. Zeinalian, D. Chataur, R. Cohen and F. Wagemann - a tight string-topology collaboration network.2021
  • Co-edited the Springer volume 'Deformation Spaces: Perspectives on Algebro-Geometric Moduli' (2010) with Matilde Marcolli and T. Tradler, showing a standing role in the field's edited literature beyond journal articles.2010
  • Google Scholar profile (user=ihFhQeUAAAAJ) confirms an active citation record on the string-topology corpus.
