Janusz Pawlikowski

Janusz Pawlikowski is a Polish mathematician and professor at the Institute of Mathematics, University of Wrocław, working in mathematical logic and set theory. As a schoolboy at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Bydgoszcz he won a bronze medal for Poland at the 18th International Mathematical Olympiad (Lienz, Austria, 1976), scoring 55 points (61.2%). He earned his Ph.D. at Uniwersytet Wrocławski in 1986 with the dissertation 'Bases and Additivity of Borel Ideals' under Bogdan Zbigniew Węglorz, and has since published on Borel ideals, descriptive set theory and forcing. He remains an active faculty member at UWr.
