Notes
  • Represented Estonia at the IOI three years running (2004-2006) and earned silver each time - the top Estonian IOI performer of that cohort, alongside an IMO bronze in 2005 and 2006, marking a rare double in both informatics and mathematics olympiads.2006
  • Currently Senior Programmer at CGI Eesti; prior roles as a Java programmer at Quretec, Python programmer at BPW Consulting and Perl programmer at the University of Tartu - a long Estonian software career spanning bioinformatics and IT services.2026
  • Co-authored 'GraphWeb: mining heterogeneous biological networks for gene modules with enriched biological properties' (Nucleic Acids Research 2008) with the University of Tartu bioinformatics group of Juri Reimand, Hedi Peterson, Priit Adler and Jaak Vilo - this matches his early role as a Perl programmer in that same group, showing a research-into-industry trajectory.Jul 1, 2008
  • ETIS CV lists both a Master's degree and doctoral (PhD) studies in Mathematics at the University of Tartu, indicating research-level mathematical training underpinning his competitive-programming and bioinformatics work.2024
  • Ranks 4th on the HTG (Hugo Treffner Gymnasium) student hall-of-fame, class of 2006, tying his olympiad peak to Tartu's Hugo Treffner Gymnasium.2026
  • GitHub profile (laurtooming) is sparse - 1 follower, 0 following, listing CGI and Tartu, Estonia - consistent with a private-sector engineer who does not maintain a prominent public open-source presence.2026
  • Records nature observations (moths, birds) on the Estonian biodiversity platform eElurikkus under the username laurtooming, verified as a PlutoF contributor - a personal interest signal outside software.May 31, 2025
