Marian Orłowski

Marian Orłowski is a Polish mathematician working in topology (general topology, MSC 54). As a schoolboy he was a laureate of the Polish Mathematical Olympiad and represented Poland at the International Mathematical Olympiad in both 1963 and 1964; at the 6th IMO in Moscow (1964) he won a silver medal, ranking 14th of 72 contestants with 31 points. He earned his doctorate in 1977 at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IM PAN), with the dissertation "On the fundamental matching and simple n-perforation" (in Polish), supervised by the topologist Karol Borsuk. He is recorded as a doctor on the staff of Warsaw University of Technology in the late 1970s. His work is indexed under MathSciNet author ID 203116.
