Semyon Dyatlov is a Professor of Mathematics at MIT working on quantum chaos, microlocal analysis, dynamical systems, scattering theory, and general relativity. Raised and first trained in Novosibirsk, Russia, he represented Russia at the 2003 International Olympiad in Informatics and won a silver medal, then earned his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley (2013) under Maciej Zworski. He held a Clay Research Fellowship (2013-2018) and a Sloan Research Fellowship (2017-2021), won the 2022 AMS-EMS Mikhail Gordin Prize, gave an invited ICM address in 2022, and shared the 2026 AMS Joseph L. Doob Prize with Zworski for their book Mathematical Theory of Scattering Resonances.
