Simon Marshall is an Associate Professor of Mathematics (Number Theory) at the University of Melbourne. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2014-2025), and earned his PhD at Princeton University under Peter Sarnak. His research spans automorphic forms, representation theory and harmonic analysis, with a focus on subconvexity for L-functions, the limit multiplicity problem, and the concentration of eigenfunctions on arithmetic manifolds. As a school student in New Zealand he won a silver medal at the 2001 International Mathematical Olympiad and New Zealand’s first gold medal at the 2002 IMO.

Simon Marshall is an Associate Professor in Number Theory at the University of Melbourne. Before his academic career he was a standout school mathematician in New Zealand: silver medallist at the 2001 IMO and gold medallist at the 2002 IMO, New Zealand's first.
