Tai-Hsu Lin

Tai-Hsu Lin is a Taiwanese engineer whose career runs from elite competitive programming to computational imaging to big-tech software. As a high-school student he won silver for Taiwan at IOI 2003, placing 25th of 265 contestants. He studied and researched at National Taiwan University, where he co-authored a well-cited SIGGRAPH 2008 light-field acquisition paper in Homer H. Chen's group, then moved to Columbia University's DVMM lab with Shih-Fu Chang, publishing on mobile product search and hashing (ACM MM 2011, CVPR 2012). He subsequently worked as a Google engineer in the Chromium/Chrome OS input area and appears on Google-assigned patents.

Tai-Hsu Lin represented Taiwan at the 15th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2003, Kenosha, USA), winning a silver medal and placing 25th worldwide. He went on to research computational photography and image/video processing, co-authoring the SIGGRAPH 2008 light-field paper 'Programmable Aperture Photography' at National Taiwan University, then worked on mobile visual search and hashing in the DVMM lab at Columbia University (ACM MM 2011, CVPR 2012), and later as a Google software engineer (Chromium/Chrome OS input, Google-assigned patents).
