Joydip Saha represented Bangladesh at the 2018 International Mathematical Olympiad in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, as a student of Notre Dame College, Dhaka. He scored 19 points (rank 215, 64%) across the six problems and won a Bronze medal, part of a six-member Bangladesh team whose teammate Ahmed Zawad Chowdhury took the country's first-ever IMO gold. In September 2018 he went on to win Gold at the 4th Iranian Geometry Olympiad (IGO), ranking first in the Graduated level with a perfect score. He remained active in the Bangladesh olympiad scene, later serving as a co-Leader of the Bangladesh team and as an Observer A at national olympiad events.
