MFMatthew Fitch
Matthew Fitch is a mathematician-turned-data-engineer based in Paris. As a student at the Lycee international Europole in Grenoble he was selected for France's team at the 2010 International Mathematical Olympiad, where he won a bronze medal, and was a Concours General 2010 mathematics laureate. He studied mathematics at the University of Cambridge (BSc, then M2) and informatics at Universite Grenoble Alpes, and began doctoral research at the University of Warwick before moving into industry data engineering.
- PhD at Warwick under Prof. Oleg Pikhurko on 'Applications of Entropy to Extremal Problems' (2014-2018) but no doctoral role after 2018 and current title 'Ingenieur IT', which reads as leaving academia for industry shortly after the PhD rather than completing an academic path.2018
- Member of France's 6-person team at IMO 2010; scored P1=7, P2=7, P5=2, total 16, rank 199, bronze medal. Team led by Claude Deschamps with Pierre Bornsztein.Jul 2010
- Studied mathematics at Cambridge then informatics at Universite Grenoble Alpes and started doctoral research at Warwick, a research track that diverted into industry data engineering rather than an academic career.Jan 2024
- Listed as a Concours General 2010 mathematics laureate, 3eme accessit, at Lycee international Europole in Grenoble; the same school and year cohort corroborates this is the IMO 2010 France contestant.Jun 2010
- Career across ORNESS, Oscaro.com and Societe Generale in mathematics/algorithms/statistics and database engineering shows a consistent applied-maths-to-data trajectory.Jan 2024
- Current employer Selfee is a Credit Agricole subsidiary electricity supplier/aggregator trading renewable energy, so his data engineering work sits in energy-market operations rather than the usual tech sector.Dec 2025
