Created MathArena, An LLM Math Benchmark Used By Major AI LabsIMO Gold Medalist And IOI Silver MedalistPhD From ETH Zurich Supervised By Martin VechevCo-founder/CTO Of Invariant Labs (AI Agent Security)

I am a researcher working on AI for mathematics and reasoning with a focus on improving theorem proving capabilities of LLMs. I’ve created MathArena (matharena.ai), a benchmark which evaluates LLMs on latest math competitions which is now used by leading labs such as Google DeepMind, xAI and Microsoft. Besides my research, I have a gold medal from IMO and silver medals from IOI.

Mislav Balunovic is a Croatian computer scientist and Senior Research Scientist at Google DeepMind (joined September 2025), working on AI for mathematics and LLM reasoning and theorem proving. He created MathArena, a benchmark evaluating LLMs on recent math competitions used by leading labs. He earned a PhD in Computer Science at ETH Zurich (2019-2024) in the Secure, Reliable and Intelligent Systems Lab supervised by Martin Vechev, and was co-founder and CTO of Invariant Labs (AI agent security). In high school he won a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad and silver medals at the International Olympiad in Informatics.
