Greek mechanical engineering professor at the University of Thessaly specialising in internal combustion engines and automotive exhaust aftertreatment, and director of the Laboratory of Thermodynamics & Thermal Engines since 2000. PhD Aristotle University of Thessaloniki 1988; earlier led a research group there funded by the European Commission and industry (PSA, DaimlerChrysler, Degussa-Huels, IBIDEN). 80+ refereed journal papers and 60+ conference papers, h-index 26 (Scopus). Repeated winner of Energies (MDPI) reviewer and editor awards. Represented Greece at the 1979 International Mathematical Olympiad, winning a bronze medal.

Tassos (Anastasios) Stamatelos is a Greek mechanical engineer and Professor of Internal Combustion Engines at the University of Thessaly in Volos, where he directs the Laboratory of Thermodynamics & Thermal Engines (LTTE). Born in Thessaloniki in 1962, he studied Mechanical Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Diploma 1984) and earned his PhD there in 1988. After serving as a reserve officer of the Corps of Engineers (1988-1990), he was elected adjunct lecturer and led a research group in the Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics at Aristotle University, funded by EU and industrial research money, before moving to Volos in January 2000. His research covers internal combustion engines, automotive exhaust aftertreatment (catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters), applied thermodynamics, HVAC engineering, building energy simulation and photovoltaic performance. As a schoolboy he represented Greece at the 1979 International Mathematical Olympiad in London, winning a bronze medal.
