BIG NEWS! We have found the SEED of Minecraft's title-screen background PANORAMA!

Everyone should be familiar with this world. It's the one that always appeared on Minecraft's main-menu (title-screen), blurred and slowly rotating around. It first appeared in 2011 for Minecraft Beta 1.8 and stayed for many years, until it was only recently replaced in 1.13 and…

Interesting stuff, nice work! The first title screen panorama was actually originally in-game render of a live world, with custom worldgen and the seed "splash" `100`. I would have figured this was a screenshot from that, but consider me surprised…

The first title screen panorama was actually originally in-game render of a live world, with custom worldgen and the seed ~~"splash"~~ 100. I would have figured this was a screenshot from that, but consider me surprised and impressed! :D

Edit: It turns out that was an even earlier panorama, and the one in this post came later. The first one was never released, though. Here's a screenshot of what it would have looked like: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/721776112014721096/734129117058039808/unknown.png

On “"For those of you who don't know why the API is taking so long: it's like rebuilding the engines of a jet in the middle of a long flight" @Dinnerbone”

What i do not understand is why they do not fully prioritize the api. Because using his analogy, they now have one team trying to rebuild the engines of the jet while another team is still actively working on making the current engines more complicated. If they'd first finish…

You overestimate how many people there are working on Minecraft.

There are currently 5 developers on the Minecraft PC team:

  • Jeb
  • Myself, creator of Bukkit - (pretty much) all your server mods are using this
  • Grum, also a creator of Bukkit
  • Searge, creator of MCP - (pretty much) all your client mods are using this
  • TheMogMiner, cool rendering engineer

The focus is as follows:

  • Jeb is currently focusing on MC:PE, but otherwise works on the gameplay of Minecraft.
  • I work towards making the codebase cleaner, refactoring systems towards something we can expose through an API.
  • Grum works towards making the codebase cleaner, refactoring systems towards something we can expose through an API.
  • Searge works towards making the codebase cleaner, refactoring systems towards something we can expose through an API.
  • TheMogMiner works towards making the codebase cleaner, refactoring systems towards something we can expose through an API.

Believe me, we're prioritizing the API :)

Hi, Here's another "will you add x?!" post for you... Sorry.. Basically, I am deaf... and I wish for subtitles, to allow me to enjoy the game a little closer to the complete experience... (The game XIII completely immersed me with its comic-book style 3d positioned subtitles) I…

... Huh. I never thought about this. I'll bring it up with the team :)
