You've written songs about a corporate zombie and a moody vampire. When are you going to complete the trifecta and write a song about a lovesick werewolf? (Pay no attention to the username of the person asking this question.)

You know, it is a little strange that I have never found my way to werewolves. I think there might be something about them that I don't find all that compelling. Once a month you turn into a wolf, who cares. Lock yourself in the basement, done. Sure it hurts, your bones elongate and you grow hair very quickly and painfully and stuff, but it just doesn't feel like that big a deal to me. I have a bad day AT LEAST once a month, and I'm not complaining.

For Jonathan Coulton, How did Valve contact you about writing the ending song for Portal?

u/jonathancoulton replied

Kim Swift (the project lead) came to one of my shows in Seattle and came up to the merch table to say hi and ask if I had ever thought about writing for games.

Damian_OKGo - I saw you in england last year, and you were talking about a gig that was going to take place in the round house. What happened to that? I didn't hear anything about it afterwards. JoCo - Do you correct your lyrics for Mandlebrot set in gigs now that Benoit died?…

u/jonathancoulton replied

I have taken to leaving out the offending lines, and it sort of functions as a moment of silence for Benoit, which feels right. I don't like the idea of changing lyrics if I can help it. Songs are not wikipedia articles.
