Subvert your own Trope!

The farm boy saves the world. The kindly old wizard with a world of knowledge only shares some of it. The mysterious witch in the forest vaguely prophesises the end of the world. We all know the tropes, and we all like to complain about them. Subversion is the name of the game…

Farm boy receives quest to go to save the world.

Farm boy arrives at Dark Lord's evil realm, realizes he doesn't know shit about swordplay or magic or anything except irrigation and wheat germ seeding.

Farm boy solves food crisis by introducing advanced agricultural practice to the orcish hordes. With their immediate needs for food and safety met, the orcs advance up Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and begin questing for self-realization. Immediately, governmental reform is established and the Dark Lord is outed in a democratic vote after a lengthy campaign.

What "fantasy cliches" occur most often in real life?

By "fantasy cliches occurring in real life," I mean things like the fact that there are multiple "Mt. Dooms" and "Mt. Terrors" in the world.

Occasionally, eccentric elderly dudes with threadbare robes and long, gray beards will show up on my doorstep and tell me that there is a great prophecy surrounding my destiny and that I must depart with them for a long journey.

I call the police pretty frequently.
