“One year ago, on a Friday afternoon, I stood in a small office to preview the highly anticipated announcement of Windsurf's acquisition..and then...my jaw fell to the 1st floor of the building. I google'd acquihire, ironic. … 24 hours later I got a call that Cognition had acquired us.”
- Describes her current remit as "I lead Cognition's Insurance practice", advising insurance technology leaders to "let the biggest problem lead the rollout" such as unaddressed vulnerabilities or postponed upgrades sponsored by the CTO or CIO.Oct 14, 2026I lead Cognition's Insurance practice. The insurance technology leaders I talk with are curious about how to apply AI, and bogged down by all the information. My advice is to let the biggest problem lead the rollout. Think of that problem as a fire. Water thrown across the entire field puts out very little, so aim at the largest flames first. Yours might be vulnerabilities that have gone unaddressed. Or a critical upgrade that keeps getting postponed. Work that size sits inside board-level and P&L-level initiatives, which is why the CTO or CIO makes the call. Engineering leaders then point their teams at it. At Cognition, we believe engineers on a mature team operate more like architects. They plan the work and review what comes back, and agents take on majority of the execution. Working this way asks every role to make the same change in mindset. Start with the problem that needs solving, then bring in the technology. And remember, it’s time to be ambitious. 🚀 Keep setting goals that would have sounded unrealistic a year ago. P.S. What is the biggest fire on your backlog right now?

- Joined Codeium (later Windsurf) on 2024-07-29 as Strategic Account Executive in Austin, posting: "Today is my first day at Codeium. I ran out of the house today heading to the office with pure excitement." She thanked Sonar colleagues Max Steinberger, Lindsey Watkins and Eli Goodrich, which names the team that hired her into dev-tools sales.Jul 29, 2024Today is my first day at Codeium. I ran out of the house today heading to the office with pure excitement. Suffice it to say - today was a very cool day to start at Codeium. This company has done (and is doing) incredible things. Being here is going to be so fun. I will miss folks at Sonar, and am excited to see where that company goes. Max Steinberger thank you for making a place for me when the team was full, Lindsey Watkins for being my cheerleader and litmus test, and Eli Goodrich for imparting wisdom so freely and betting on me so that I can continue to bet on myself.

"What did last quarter's AI spend ship?" In most conversations with AI transformation leaders that is the first question I ask. Token calculus show how much AI you consumed. Price performance shows what you paid for each finished objective, and how good and useful that work is. The simple way for a technology leader to evaluate price performance has four steps. 1. Pick one real backlog item, like modernizing a COBOL app that never had automated tests. Then line up the next 10 like it. 2. Count the full cost (licenses, plus engineer time spent scoping, reviewing and reworking) and compare it to your loaded engineering rate. 3. Judge the output by your own bar: did the tests pass review, and how much manual UAT did they replace? 4. Validate it lasts: when better or cheaper models ship, does your partner switch to them for you, or do you re-tool? Run those four steps and you have a first answer to the bigger question. "How do we get more engineering value from the systems we're using?" A strong result with a partner that fits is your signal to expand adoption. A weak result costs you one backlog item. As adoption increases, your spending controls should follow the same logic: give engineers delivering value room to do more, and help others improve. Yesterday we announced Cognition's new efficiency-based cost controls. It's time to allocate AI spend based on the engineering value it delivers.

Two years ago, many technology leaders were asking whether AI was ready for serious engineering work. Now, it is. Insurance technology leaders seeing the most impact are responding by raising their ambition. They are taking on bigger backlogs, rethinking what their teams can ship, and setting goals that would have sounded unrealistic a year ago. At Cognition, we call this ambition-maxxing: when faced with a tradeoff, choose the direction that expands what is possible. We have the proof. The technology works. The constraint is increasingly simple: How ambitious are you willing to be?
Very excited to share that Cognition (Windsurf) has been named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for AI Code Assistants. 🚀 We believe this recognition validates our vision: building an AI-native IDE that brings agentic workflows, deep context awareness, and enterprise-first security to the world’s most innovative engineering teams. One year ago, I joined Windsurf, knowing it would take sacrifice—but the excitement won out in a landslide, and it ended up exceeding every expectation. The GTM team sharpened my perspective, and I got better every day, inspired by the brains around me and the customers pushing the limits of technology. Windsurf’s growth blew anyone's Silicon Valley expectations out of the water, and it reminded me why I do what I do. Taking on leadership under Sandeep Shah and Graham Moreno was my second big bet on myself—my first time leading in a fast-growing field—and I jumped in head-first, excited for what was ahead. Month six brought unexpected changes where heros and legends were made: team departures, a whirlwind acquisition by Cognition, and, just days later, another big decision to take on a new challenge. I’m thrilled to join the Cognition team, ready to tackle this next chapter with energy and ambition. I’m fired up to make an impact alongside this insanely talented team (did you see Wave 12 🌊?!?). As my grandfather always said: “You and others win when you bet on yourself.”
Shipping big things fast is fun at Windsurf. Yesterday we started the #Wave10 release. I'd like to draw your attention to...Planning Mode. Every team at every company is juggling long-term objectives and Windsurf's Planning Mode is just the fix. This feature keeps Cascade synced to your team’s plan, even as it changes.
I’m thrilled to begin a new position as GTM Leader at Windsurf! We are continuing to ride the wave and show Enterprises how to supercharge their Engineering orgs. Reach out if you want to build something big here at Codeium in ATX with Sandeep Shah, Chris Li, Dave Frankel, Graham Moreno, and I.
We are thrilled that Codeium was mentioned at NVIDIA keynote @ CES by Jensen Huang yesterday. Our engineering team has built something changing the game, and to get recognized by this thought leader is edifying. What a way to start the new year! 🎉
