I remember trying to think of a name for the company that summed up everything that we were about, but that didn't work because that's impossible. Then I thought of how Rare didn't really mean anything (except it sounded vaguely positive) and so I reset my standards to "something that doesn't really mean anything but sounded vaguely positive." And there was a sign on the Golden Gate bridge that said, "Slow to 45 mph - Double Fine Zone."

I put that line in as a joke and was about to cut it but Ron Gilbert said no, leave it in, and he was right. And that's when I learned that the normal human tendency is to over-censor yourself. Sometimes you think, no, that joke is TOO silly, to weird, but in fact it's not.

(Except when it is.)

What gave you the idea to make Meat Circus? All of the levels in Psychonauts are so inspired and interesting, so I could ask the same thing about any of them, but Meat Circus seems so different from the rest in terms of its concept.

u/TimOfLegend replied

Originally, the game had two final levels. One in Raz's mind that was his memories of the circus. One was in Oleander's mind, in his father's butcher shop. Our publisher was pushing us to cut one level, so we combined the last two! :)

You fight like a dairy farmer!

u/TimOfLegend replied

How appropriate, as I do raise cows and milk them and sell the milk for a living! I take pride in my work as a dairy farmer, and appreciate you noticing that it carries into everything that I do!
